Delivery drivers across Australia will be guaranteed a minimum rate of $31.30 an hour and insured for injuries sustained on the job under a new agreement approved by the country’s industrial umpire, the Guardian reports.
The Fair Work Commission (FWC) issued the new minimum standards order on Tuesday. It covers gig workers who perform on-demand delivery of food, drinks or groceries, as well as the operators of the digital platforms that engage their services.
